For those having missing letters or similar issues with gnu/linux distributions such as ubuntu, I can confirm that playing around with fonts and sizes solves the graphical issue.
Increasing or decreasing font size might be enough.
Here is my current configuration in case you need additional information, but many more different configurations work flawlessly:
Distribution: Kubuntu
Desktop Environment: KDE
Kernel: 3.16.0-34-generic
Font for QT applications: Oxygen-Sans 15 for everything. Exception: Small = Oxygen-Sans 13 and Toolbar = Oxygen-Sans 13
Font for GTK: Oxygen-Sans 15
GTK2 Theme Raleigh
GTK3 Theme: Emacs
I haven't changed anything about Xorg configuration files or anything weird.
