Some advice please - specs attached

I want to build a solid gaming PC for around £500 - £600

I'm really not interested in playing all the latest games at 'Ultra' settings with 3 monitors but would like to play with one monitor in full HD at 1920 x 1080 with a decent framerate (above 50fps)

Some games I'd like to play - Deus Ex: Human Revolution/Elder Scrolls Skyrim/Borderlands 2/Batman Arkham City/Far Cry 4 (any future releases 3/4+ years down the line)

I have a quote for the following:

Case COOLERMASTER ELITE 311 BLUE CASE
Processor (CPU) AMD FX-4350 Quad Core CPU (4.3/4.2GHZ - 4MB CACHE/AM3+)
Motherboard Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AM3+ (ATX, DDR3, USB 3.0, 6Gb/s)
Memory (RAM) 8GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 8GB)
Graphics Card 2GB AMD RADEON™ R9 270X - DVI, HDMI, DP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 4 Capable
1st Hard Disk 240GB KINGSTON HYPERX 3K SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 555MB/sR |
510MB/sW)
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply CORSAIR 450W VS SERIES™ VS-450 POWER SUPPLY
Processor Cooling STANDARD AMD CPU COOLER

Price £565.00

Is the above sufficient? How will it fare when it comes to future/current games? Where would you upgrade/downgrade? Should I have more cores? Should I go with Intel instead of AMD? Should I prioritize the processor or the GPU?

Any advice is highly appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend the fx-4350 or an SSD for your budget. Fx-6300 , for current games at high settinfs the r9-270x would be fine but 3-4 years unlikely

Would swapping to a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 750ti/660 be a good or bad move?

Would changing to a 2GB GeForce GTX 750ti be a bad move if I wanted to cut back a bit more?

The gtx 750 ti wouldn't perform as good. You could consider downgrading to 4gb ram and using the savings for a better case and a caviar black. You can always add more ram later on.

Hi, what benefits am I likely to get from having a better case and a Caviar Black HDD?

For a different case would you suggest something like the InWIN G7 GAMING CASE or PCS DEFENSOR 7203B CASE?

Better case better cooling and caviar black is a faster drive

Is it be worth paying an extra £60 for the same setup above but going the Intel route with an i5 Quad Core 4590 3.3GHz?

Which is better the Intel i5 or the AMD 6300/6350?

Would I then require a better case with better cooling with the Intel or could I actually get a cheaper one?

Really appreciate all your advice so far

Regardless of what cpu you choose the coolermaster 311 is not suitable as a gaming rig. I wouldn't choose an i5 for your budget but upgrading the GPU instead
