Hello,

I'm looking at getting a new gaming setup, my budget is £1500 (give it take) I don't need a monitor or keyboard and mouse.

Games I play:

-Sometimes warzone and overwatch

This is kinda what I was thinking but feel free to tell me I'm wrong.
Edit this is £1648

Currently I have a MSI - Optix G27C4 but eventually when I get a bit more cash I'd like a 1440p one to go along side it
Thanks, do you have any idea on rough time frames of upgrading the monitor?

Reason I ask is that if it's not gonna be for a year or something, it may be better to configure it now for 1080p, and then upgrade the GPU when you upgrade the monitor (when there will be new GPU's on the market and you'll pay far less for equivalent power)

It depends really, if I can get a decent 1440p for a couple of hundred I could maybe push the budget a bit higher. If not it'll be 4/5 months

Ok, we'll try for a 1440p rig then if we can squeeze it without too much compromise.

BTW, monitor prices are really coming down now with the 4k offering becoming more mainstream. 1440p prices, where before you really needed £350 for something half decent, you can easily find them now for £250 in sales. It's a great time to buy.

Thanks they both look doable for my budget.

Is there much difference between the 3070 and 3060Ti would the AMD alternative be better?

Also was the other one I was suggested any good?

Performance wise, both the AMD and Intel will be very much the same, it's all down to personal preference.

The bonus with AMD is better motherboard builds, better thermals. Intel probably nudges a tiny fraction in frames (literally only a couple here and there).

My preference would be AMD but that's largely morality based and thermals.

The 3060ti is roughly around 80fps in most titles at max settings, but in things like RDR you'd be looking around 60fps, BUT that's at MAX settings, the whole idea is that you can optimise settings, and turn a few down / off without affecting graphical quality AT ALL in some cases, very minor in others, and significantly boost frames.

So with optimised settings you'd be looking more like 90fps on RDR, there's loads of videos and links on best settings

The other option, if you're happy to do away with Ray Tracing is to get a 6700XT which boost raw performance, you'd be looking nearer 110fps with optimised settings

If you can push your budget to the 3070, then it's definitely worthwhile, it's quite a bit stronger for 1440p.

The 5800X is really well priced at the moment. For some reason it's actually £64 cheaper than the 5700X which brings down the cost nicely.

This is where people don't realise that a system needs to be balanced from input to output otherwise you get bottlenecks and unwanted results.

The 3080 is overpowered for 1440p, and due to cramming that in, other components don't meet the requirements for optimised throughput.

It's very much neck and neck, for me, I'd go AMD everytime especially at 1440p or over where CPU is less of an impact on frames (as the load is transferred to the GPU)

Intel have been quite frankly daylight robbers for generations now, for that purpose alone I would never go back to them.
