Ssd

Hi all,

I'm just planning my new desktop and had a question on SSDs.

Do I need an SSD instead of a HDD or can I have both?
I'm designing a PC specifically for Flight Simulator and want to optimise performance.

What is required and what would give me best results?

Cheers

You can have both, or either or.
SSD's are mostly used for quick response times. They make loading up your computer and applications very quick but also writing data to them. E.g. When rendering videos.

You could buy a 64-128GB SSD to use for Windows and the programs (flight simulator) etc.
I'd recommend the Crucial M4, I've recently purchased it. They are one of the most reliable SSD's and they have high performance levels.

To get optimal results, i'd install all the important programs and OS onto the SSD and buy a standard HD for all other files etc. One of the 500gb-1tb drives on the selection screen from PC Specialists will do the trick.

Yes you can have both. And if you are buying an ssd get a 120gb vesrion at least. Also out of the ssd's that pcs provide the intel 520 series would be the best choice.

Edit: Also read this guide as it has a lot of info about ssd's
