There appears to have been a Steam update or something in recent days and it's suddenly using a LOT of RAM. Like this much:

I'm not running games or anything. This is not normal, but there's a lot of threads in the Steam communities about this. Hopefully it's resolved soon!

Having done a bit of reading, it seems the Steam browser runs using Chromium and given the resource hog nature of Chrome, I'm not sure if Chromium may be the same as it has a fair bit of code in common!

Don’t get me started about teams. The preview “new” version which they should unquestionably still highlight as a beta has caused no ends of problems on our domain.
