Sudden Jet engine fans

I have noticed recently my PC has been getting noticeably loud especially when playing games, i was playing squad last night and it just started roaring like a jet engine then proceeded to go quiet, then started roaring again straight after, so i checked my component temperatures and my GPU was at 80 degrees, i know this isn't particularly a temperature to be too concerned about, but i've never seen it that high before and along with the jet engine noise coming from my PC i'm assuming something wasn't right.

So any feedback would be appreciated (i have also checked inside my PC and the fans ETC are pretty clean)

Are you sure it's just the GPU fans you are hearing?

If instead it is the case fans ramping up then it is infinitely more likely that they are responding to the CPU temperature....

I'm not sure, i assumed it was the GPU since it was running at 80 degrees and i've never seen it that high before

You'll have to check then! :)
Ok so it's just happened again and from what i can see it's the CPU fanx but when i checked the temperatures again the CPU temp was fine. i then closed the game and the fan literally made no change even after the game was closed?

Did you install the latest Nvidia GPU Drivers published on the 29th Apr?

I had a weird issue were my GPU fans weren't spinning and I didn't notice until it got super loud. My GPU temps hit around 80Degs and everything came on.

Seemed as though my manually set fan curve had been disabled and the fans weren't spinning at all until it got really hot. Reapplied the manual curve and it's been fine since but something to look at

To be hones i can't remember the last GPU driver update i did, i should probably got look into that now, but i'm pretty sure it's my CPU what is the issue

You mean the AIO fan yes?

The best thing I think might be to install and run HWInfo with sensors-only selected like this:

Then when it's open select start parameter logging using this icon at the bottom:

Give the file a name in an easy to find location like your desktop and then let it run for 20 mins or something like that while you playing your games - you can minimise HWInfo in the meantime - then after that time period click on that icon again to stop logging.

All the data will then be saved in a CSV file which you could look through or upload to here and we can have a look at it for you either. It will record all your temps and usage levels, etc....

Yes the AIO. ok i'll give it a go, again i have just been playing squad, i had my task manager open checking my usage, decided to close it mid game and as soon as i closed it it's like it caused some spike and just started roaring again? it literally doesn't stop either, i close the game and 2 minutes later it only just stops.

How do i download this, it doesn't let me without filling out some stuff including a business email address?

Easiest would probably be to upload it to OneDrive or similar and share that location here?

I’m not sure what files can or can’t be uploaded directly to the site.

I ran this and started playing squad, then somewhere 10minutes+ down the line the fan abruptly starts roaring at full speed and doesn't stop.

I'll look through it more carefully later. But at first glance about 14 minutes in your AIO fan speed ramps up suddenly from 1800 to 2500 RPM. This appears to happen exactly when your liquid temp reaches 40 degrees. The liquid temperature increases slowly and gently the whole time and the fan speed follows along nicely prior to that.

Your CPU temps are all fine so I would think if you find a way to adjust the fan curve on your AIO and make it a little less dramatic around that temperature then you should see a big difference. Most likely there is just a sudden vertical line on your existing curve so when it reaches 40 degrees the fan suddenly kicks to full speed with no ramp perhaps.

It would also explain why there is no immediate change after you shut down the game - because your liquid temp will take a little while to back to a lower temperature and allow the fan speed to reduce - whcih I imagine it does quite suddenly too?

Do you have a program installed to control fan curves? Like iCue or AI Suite or something like that?

How old is your system out of interest? The AIO will degrade slowly over time so if you haven't had this before it may be just that the liquid temp never got to 40 degrees previously but now after use it can't quite achieve the same efficiency. That's all I can think of.

TLDR - after a brief look everything looks fine - GPU temps, CPU temps, GPU fans, Chassis fans, the lot. My hunch says just adjust your AIO fan curve and you'll be happy.

appreciate it, cheers for your time and my system is 6-7 months old.

See how you get on with the fan curve and keep us advised.

40 degrees liquid temp is absolutely fine btw so don’t be worried about my comment regarding efficiency. The max temp sustained is 40.1 degrees C. So it looks like it’s just barely getting warm enough to ramp up the fan. Hopefully a little tweak will sort it.

Ok so i have iCue, but i'm not entirely sure how i'd set the curve up or add it as like the primary settings?
I’m not an AIO expert I’m afraid so perhaps someone else can help you better than I.

However Here is a slightly annoying video guide.

If you have the option to use the AIO Liquid Temperature as the reference for the AIO fan speed that would be the best option. Make sure you leave the pump speed at 100% at all times also.

If your cooler isn't recognised by iCue then you may be able to manage the same or similar fix with AI Suite.

I've now fixed the issue, a tweak of the RPM once hitting 40 degrees was correct, thanks a lot bud i appreciate it.
