Suggestions for my 1440p 144fps setup? Also do i need a GSYNC monitor?

I am looking to try get at least 90+ fps in most triple A titles
I will buy a 1440p 144hz monitor, but is it needed for this build to have GSync?

Is this build OK? About £2000 is my budget

Do i have to worry about heating if if i overclock this CPU?

Without overclocking and with overclocking the CPU to about 5GHZ, do i have to worry about thermals in this build?

A good build but can I suggest the following:
Go for a pre-overclocked machine, it only costs around £10 more
Swap the SSD for an m.2 drive. the 970 evo is around £20 more but substantially faster.
The H100i is only £4 more and has twice the cooling area of the H80i. However the stock fans are quite noisy. I would recommend paying the extra for the quiet fan version or go for the Noctua cooler.

As far as Gsync is concerned I would say go for it. It is more expensive but I do find even with my 1080ti overclocked it does not always keep those frame rates as high as I would like and the gsync smooths it all out nicely.

See my comment to your build advice thread. Thermals should be fine but would be better with a H100i or Noctua cooler.

Thanks for the advice, i will try to rebuild it.
However i initially selected the H100i cooling but it had compatibility issues with my RAM and i settled with something similar in price range. Can you tell me something similar in performance of cooling instead? As long as my machine doesn't sound like a speaker im good

Only issue is i need to cancel my order and start an overclocked build if i want the CPU OC'd.
Do you think its that much beneficial to OC the CPU from stock when my GPU is a stock OC'd ASUS ROG Strix? I dont think it would make too much difference

The Noctua cooler performs slightly better than the H80i and is substantially quieter.
PCS should be able to just modify your build to an OC'd one without cancelling I would have thought as the components do not change.
I had not spotted you went for the Strix. It is around £100 more than the standard one and does not really perform any better. Last I saw PCS were using Zotac amps and mini's which perform just as well for much less, the card boosts itself anyway. You can ring them to check which one they are using.

Ok, as far as performance i dont think i would need an OC'd version of the 8700k because they said id need to create a new order since that processor is only available in the OC build creator. Which is weird

Ive seen on youtube that the rog strix version gives slightly better performance, around 5-10fps on 1440p. How much fps increase roughly do you estimate an OC 8700k to do over regular clock speed

I appreciate all your advice youre giving me

That is odd as it is the same processor!!

The Rog Strix does do that at stock yes but it is a silicon lottery with the GPU's and a founders edition can in theory out perform it with the right settings. I just personally do not think the gains are worth it myself. (I went for a premium 1080ti for the silence not the extra out of the box boost clock)

With regards to the CPU, looking at videos like below, it does give a 10 to 15fps increase. Much better value for money than the cahnge in GPU.

I can overclock the processor myself and get those higher numbers if i wanted to yes?
I understand it will prob void my warranty so i will def think about it if i really need before i do it

You can overclock yourself. There are lots of guides out there. I pushed mine further than PCS did it. It is fairly safe to do as long as you don't get silly with the voltages.

Should be fine, the GPU and CPU are both upto the task. The M.2 drive is optional, you wont notice much difference in gaming compared to a normal SSD, so depends if you want to scrimp a little. I personally upgraded my whole system so i could get an M.2 though, so maybe not the best person to offer opinions :D :D

The Strix GPU (there are several Strixes and PCS don't use the OC version afaik) is actually lower clocked than some of the other versions PCS use. The price premium for it is horrendous. Any FPS boost the Strix provides over a Founders Edition type version will be down to the benchmark not adjusting the fan profile of the FE.

I honestly can't recommend the Strix when it's getting on for £100 more than a 'regular' one, which may actually be clocked higher to boot!
