Is this a good spec for high end gaming? Will it run most high end games like gta v on max settings?

Also, how is the cooling on this laptop? Don't want to kill it after 1 year if it gets quite hot.

I would lower the memory to 8Gb as you can add another stick of 8Gb later on if you need to very easily.

I would also drop the main SSD down to a 240Gb one as you won't need 500Gb

Then I'd use the leftover to push for a GTX980m as that will last a lot longer playing AAA's. You can find benchmarks for both cards online.
