hello there, long story short, Im young family of 6, me and the partner both work our socks off to keep the nippers, happy and healthy and our savings next to nothing (well is now lol) so my budget took me ages to save for, and wanted a PC that was future prove for atleast the next couple years before having to spend money on the system.

My budget was 2400 Please go easy lol

Hi Andy,

I guess to give a more accurate recommendation 2 questions that you'd need to answer is what's your use case for the computer and what monitor are you using with it? 2080 Tis are about to be replaced, but should still serve you well into the future.

My case I'm using? Corsair obsidian 500se. Why? I just liked the look of it.
As for my monitor its a Asus gaming monitor 144hz but it is about 2 years old now, so maybe that needs a upgrade?
As for 2080 it looks like the 3000 series has 24 ddr6 memory and looks a beast. Hopefully the 2080 last me atleast afew years?

I would hold off any purchase now, the 3000 series are set to be announced on the 1st September and will offer a lot more performance for less money.

You didn't mention what resolution your monitor is, but guessing 1080p? If so, that won't be appropriate for any modern PC, will need to be upgraded.

I know mate, I realized this about the Gfx cards afew days back but ive already got the pc being built as we speak. I am coming from a i7 6700 1060 16gb so hoping to notice the difference when coming to play the likes of Squad,Arma, IL2 and KCD as i couldn't play these at decent fps.
As for the monitor sound for the advice, i thought as being 144hz it be fine lol (showing my pc iQ here)

In that case, I’d definitely cancel. Intel is an awful choice these days, they pail in comparison to AMD in performance, thermals, power and security as well as price.

Hz is the refresh rate, but what’s more important is the resolution. Do you know the male and model?

Asus VG248qe Is the model, im pretty sure i need to replace the monitor its long in the teeth now.

Ahh now im stuck lol. Im not a hardcore gamer as alot of ladies n gents out there, probably get afew hours a weekend if im lucky, is the difference in the two, that big that its worth changing ? I did buy a big case on the basis of having to do changes in next few years, as hardware moving on pretty fast these days.

I meant the usecase for the pc, as in what you were going to do with it - gaming, general purpose etc.

I think @SpyderTracks did all the heavy lifting here - I would've gone into the same direction as he did, AMD build would be recommended over intel and holding off until the new gpus launch.

I would strongly recommend cancelling. Aside from the poor performance, you're paying through the nose for an already outdated system, it's just a really bad option.

Plus, the performance will only reduce significantly with time. All Intel CPU's are affected with MAJOR security problems, and each time they're patched, it further reduces performance. They're just awful CPU's.

I contact PCSpecialist and get this sorted. Is there anything else? Im going to stick with 2080ti and upgrade gpu later in the future.

Like I said, I wouldn’t get a 2080ti. I would hold off for one week until they announce the 3000 series as they’re going to be significantly more powerful and have much better technologies for less money.

To put it into monetary terms, the 2080ti is around £1200, the 3080 is set to be more powerful for around £800

Oh jesus, I didnt realize the price difference was 400 notes or more and seems alot better card in what i have read about the 3000 series.
Looks like i might stick with my pc now and wait, like you say thats madness the difference in price and hardware. Plus i be in the good books with the wife saving 400 odd quid

Yeah, come back on the 1st, we'll know more then about where things stand. But it's a significant upgrade this time around, more than in about the last 15 years. It's pretty exciting.
