The Intel Efficiency argument

A lot of more Intel persuaded people will argue to the hilt that results of intel power requirements under load tests are totally irrelevant in a gaming scenario, and that they keep up with or beat AMD.

Gamers Nexus finally took up this mantle and did a huge test across out of the box performance, and then matching power / fps and various things to compare in real world game performance.

They did a poll on YouTube the other day asking for peoples average price per day per kWh which had a lot of response, they didn't give any suggestion that it was for this video, which is really good. But it opens your eyes to the difference in cost of everyday running your machine. For some context, electricity is around 3 times the cost per kWh in the UK.

This is a really interesting video.

BUT, I will say, early reports of Intels new laptop Meteor Lake chips, their efficiency does look remarkably improved which does set the stage for a big improvement for next gen desktop chips maybe around September next year.

But actual battery performance times of around 23 hours off a single charge (for just a chrome test) but that is SIGNIFICANTLY better than before!
