Thermal paste

Hi,

I've opted for the mx-4 thermal on my order. Anyone got any info on whether it's worth getting or just repasting myself with something else? Worried mainly cos of people's comments on the Octane III running very hot with the 1080 cards. I'll be using a laptop cooler just wondering if a repaste and maybe some thermal pads might be worth doing?

Yeap I've used Coollaboratory Liquid MetalPad's on 680, 880 and 980's and to be honest made very little difference to temps maybe -1c or -2c compared to MX4 paste.

They also have other disadvantages like a potentially more complex burn-in and being less fun to remove (which someone else mentions a few posts down in that topic too).

I'd stick with the MX-4. If your laptop shuts down due to thermal issues or runs the GPU at 95 degrees C or whatever, the paste isn't really going to make the difference between things being viable or not.
