The 3950X isn’t really a gaming chip, you’d likely end up with better performance from a 12 core processor.

Few questions for you. What monitor will you be using with the system? What’s the budget? And please could you edit your post to include the URL? It’ll help others make suggested changes without having to go through the whole build process.

Ta!

Hi Cooper, I will be using a 27” MSI gaming monitor, and budget wise im not really fussed, I’m getting this on finance, as long as it does what I need and for atleast 5 years minimum then im happy. Ive added the URL :)

Great stuff, ta. What’s the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor?

I’ve made a few changes to optimise the build. Better case for airflow, more appropriate processor (which is actually a placeholder, swap it out for the 5900X which is released on the 5th), more powerful cooler to cope with the CPU, much faster storage 🙂👍

The 3080 is a beast of a GPU, it’s designed for 4K 144Hz or super ultrawide 1440p. If you’re just running a standard 1440p 144Hz or 4K 60Hz you can happily move down to the 3070 and save yourself some money. You’ll just be bottlenecked by your monitor otherwise.

Here’s the spec...

Above spec is a beauty.

I would bump the wifi down personally, there isn't much to be gained. When streaming you would ideally want to use an Ethernet connection where possible.

I did wonder about that. The one with Bluetooth is my usual preferred choice. Thanks for clarification 👍

Its a 1080p 1ms 165hz
I wouldn't look past the 3060Ti with that monitor in mind. Anything else would be huge overkill.

May be worthwhile considering the 3070 and a 1440p 144hz monitor upgrade though?

How future proof is this build?, will it last me atleast 5 years without needing to make major changes?

I was thinking maybe upgrade to a 4k monitor
4k is definitely in the 3080s wheelhouse but you will want to aim for 144hz to let it really stretch its legs. Those monitors tend to be 800+ to get something decent.

If I upgraded the monitor to a 4k one then its worth keeping the 3080?, otherwise downgrade gpu?, thats what you recommend?

Wow! Im looking at £4k in total spend with that monitor. Definitely will hurt the pocket haha

I would have a little look at the Samsung G9 as well, just to put another angle in there. It's a very expensive monitor but every single enthusiast on here drools every time we see it. A few members have it and I firmly believe some of them don't even have PCs, it's THAT nice.

The Predator looks like a stunning monitor, and the Samsung G9 is just gorgeous.

Another monitor possibility is the XG27UQ available for £800 at either https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gamin...ps-lcd-gaming-monitor-black-10206695-pdt.html or https://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-...s-hdr-10001-400cd-m-hdmi-dp-g-sync-compatible - both are out of stock and Scan aren't expecting their next delivery until January though. It is pretty much the cheapest 4K 144Hz monitor out there, but often low in stock because of that. Other places are selling theirs for around £950.
