I have been playing games that are not very demanding, bt with the release of Bannerlord my PC is struggling.

Im looking to do a general upgrade to run Bannerlord on max settings, what would you reccomend I upgrade? Please see below current specs.

What’s your budget for the upgrade and what monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you’re unsure?

So there’s nothing wrong with your current computer, it’s got plenty of life left in it for a while yet.

The great things about buying a decent PC platform is that it’s modular so you can upgrade components rather than having to buy a whole new computer.

If you’re running games on your TV, that’s a 4k TV which is why the won’t run very well, the 1060 is a 1080p card, well out of reach of 4k.

For your uses, all you really need is a decent GPU, a 2080 Super would cover you nicely for a while to come at 4k and would be around 7-800.

To power it though, you would need to replace your PSU with a 750w RMx

Then keep the rest of the money for a decent monitor which would again give a much breed experience than the TV

The card you have is nowhere near powerful enough for 4k for gaming. It will be fine for movies and general output, but not for gaming.

Hi everyone, I just ordered a new pc, im unsure if I need a soundcard ofif the intergrated will be sufficiet/any other best option.

Im currently using HDMI from pc to TV LG OLED55C9PLA and then Optical cable from TV to BOSE Soundbar 700, with Base Module and surround sound speakers also connected.

What would be the optimum setup to maximise the sound? Would a soundcard make any difference? Should I not be using optical cable from TV?

here is the pc I just bought:

I wouldn't recommend that build for your uses to be honest. Better to go down the AMD route, either the 3800X or the 3900X would be my choice in a build such as this.

Not sure if you're stuck on it or if you would be willing to consider cancelling and looking at a more future proof build?

The on-board sound is absolutely fine with that board. It's some of the best available. You wouldn't be able to beat it with a gaming audio card, you would need an external DAC for any meaningful difference.

Thanks for the help! The main reason for upgrading now is to get through the quarantine, so I'm not really focused into future proofing it too much, maybe looking at getting a vr rig soonish, I will be happy if it lasts 4 years and then upgrade again.

What uses would the build I have ordered Excell in? Im looking to pick up new skills and learn a thing or 2 instead of playing games all the time.

It's more the fact that Intel, and specifically this socket, is at a dead end. There is nowhere left to go with it, whereas the AMD alternative has a very good future potential. The next generation chips should slot directly in the socket with simply a BIOS upgrade. Just wanted to make you aware though, as long as you're happy with the selection :)

The 9900k is good for peak FPS and it will handle multi-tasking fairly well. Other than high FPS gaming though it's not the top of the pile. A 3900X would knock spots off it for productivity such as video editing, rendering, etc.

Note, as per my sig, I have the 9900k but I would never choose one now.

Specifically looking at your build... I would look to change the M2 selections and the cooler.

For the M2, the H10 NVMe SSD isn't a great choice. If you want high performance look at the Samsung Evo. If you're happy with mid-level I would look at the 660P.

For the cooler, you want the H115i Platinum. The PRO isn't as good and the 9900k needs all the cooling you can throw at it.
