To be or not to be...

Hi All,

Looking for advice/thoughts on the below spec. I've got a budget of around £2500 plus monitor. Not decided on the monitor yet, I'm hoping to get a 4k (3840 x 2160) screen (something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-XB273KPbmiphzx-Monitor-27-Inch/dp/B07JNQCPM7). It will be mainly used for gaming and video editing, games in mind Red Redemption II, Cyberpunk. I would of selected the RTX 3080 card, but with Pre-order delays I've gone with 6800 XT ( it doesn't have a pre-order status/warning) so I'm hoping this will speed up build and delivery. I've left off the wireless card as its showing pre-order on the site and will install/transfer my windows license. Thanks!

If you’re doing any amount of regular editing you’re going to want more RAM than you’re currently packing. The 2TB Corsair M.2 drive would’ve been my storage choice but it’s currently out of stock. And as @Martinr36 says, the RMx PSU is the newer model, worth it for the few extra quid 🙂👍

Beautiful build, just a few things...

Change a PSU to RMx instead of RM.

It's absolutely fine with both storages being same speed, but I would take the second M.2 slower but 2TB. However, it a personal choice it perfectly fine the way it is now.

Do you have your own OS? You haven't chosen one, which means you'll need to do a clean OS reinstall the very first day a PC arrives, will need to do drivers etc.

You haven't picked wifi and Bluetooth, is it ok for you?

Well done for not using Bullguard and Chrome. There're better antivirus solutions and the Edge is a much better browser too.

Thanks all for your valuable input. Any thoughts on fan configuration? The case comes with 3, and 2 exhaust fans from the AIO cooler. With this be sufficient to maintain sensible temps and noise?

This case comes with SP 120 RGB Elite fans. And the cooler with ML fans. I would take exhaust rear SP 120 RGB fan from Amazon and mount myself as they're cheaper than ML.

The ML fans on the cooler don’t use traditional bearings, they work on the principle of magnetic levitation and are whisper quiet. The SP fans on the case are a newer, improved version of the fans I have on my case and whilst not silent, shouldn’t bother you for noise. That combination should keep your CPU well within normal temperature ranges. And like @Citrus_9 says, an additional fan can easily be added as an exhaust. You shouldn’t need it... but it is aesthetically pleasing 😁

I don't know what have you done to me with those RGBs, it's highly contagious and extremely satisfying 😌

Thanks! I'll start off without. I was concerned as the GPU seems mahausive. on the subject of RGB, can you control case and cooler lighting from the motherboard software?

You’d use the iCue software by Corsair. It integrates with the case and cooler fans perfectly and allows you control over a lot of things, not just lighting. Fan speeds, temperature control, pump speed etc...

@AgentCooper Just noticed the motherboard selection - Asus TUF x570-plus. Does the board support front panel USB C support? I'm happy to downgrade the MB for my requirements but a USB 3.2 connector to make use of the front port is a must for me.

Last question for the day (hopefully):) Anyone got any experience with the SPEEDSTER MERC319 AMD RADEON RX 6800 XT ? Hopefully a decision i'm not going to regret for not holding out for the 3080 instead.

It looks like you pay a premium for something that isn't a huge upgrade. If the standard ones were in stock, it would be hard to recommend the Merc319 model, but as they aren't and if you're willing to pay the price, it's going to be a great card for you.
