Let's see if the WiFi service is running:

  1. Press Windows key + R and type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER.
  2. Scroll down to find “WLAN AutoConfig ".
  3. Right-click “WLAN AutoConfig “, and then click Start if it is not running.

This really looks like drivers now.... Check out this page:

There is a windows driver and also an install guide.... If this doesn't work then I have one last arrow in my quiver - but this would be first prize

How about we try the Windows WiFi troubleshooter. I'm in the middle of a park at the moment, but I think you can get to it via clicking the Windows start button and typing: Troubleshooting

One thing we can try before that.

In Device Manager, find the WiFi adapter, right click and select Properties. In the window that pops up, is there a power management tab? If so, can you deselect the option to allow Windows to turn off the device?

Go back into Device Manager, right-click on the Realtek Wireless Adapter and click on Properties. In the window that opens click the Advanced tab and uncheck the box that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Does that help?

If not click on the Advanced tab, scroll down the list of Properties to see whether there is a Radio On/Off setting, if there is make sure it's on.

If that doesn't help click on the Driver tab, then the Update driver button, then the Search automatically option. See whether that installs a better driver.

If that doesn't work, close the properties box, right click on the Realtek wireless adapter and select Uninstall device, if asked to uninstall the driver select Yes. Now reboot. Windows will automatically install the device and find the best driver.

You must be really tired of the questions, but just 2 more, and forgiveme if they sound daft:

1) Did you fully uninstall the driver before trying a reinstall?
2) Did you get the option of installing either JUST the driver or the driver plus Application software?

unchecked the box that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. did restart no difference

No Radio On/Off setting,
Searched said I was using latest driver
Uninstalled completely rebooted no difference

When I have been installing Tenda driver it has never giving me option to install driver plus Application software as on install it says no wireless adapter device
:(

Let's take this back to the start.

When you uninstalled the wireless driver, were you connected to the router via network cable? Otherwise it won't be able to reinstall the driver. Also, you'll need to run windows updates when you first reboot after uninstalling it.

Just to confirm, you're uninstalling the driver from device manager?

I have not connected it to a router but I have downloaded the Tena driver from its website and also the driver from my Pc build on my PCSpecialist account.

The tena driver installs successfully but doesn't work and the one I got from PCSpecialist account when I install it says says No Wireless Adapter Device.

I cannot run Windows Updates .... no network connection

Any yes I am doing uninstall from Device Manager

I would suggest uninstalling the Tena driver, then uninstall the wireless driver from device manager if there's anything remaining.

Then connect to the router via cable.

Reboot and run windows updates for it to install the relevant driver.

You probably have done this already during previous driver uninstallation attempts, but when uninstalling the driver, can you tick the box labelled Delete the driver software for this device

That will permanently remove the driver files and all its registry settings - that should enable a clean re-installation of the driver after a reboot.

Hi Elaine. With this being a Tenda wifi card, is there a Tenda software application that you can download with the driver? The application may be able to communicate with the card and present you with options to enable the wifi on the card, or to change settings which may kick the wifi card into life. Long shot, admittedly . . .

Several people, who also have the Tenda W322e wifi card and couldn't enable WiFi either, managed to resolve the issue by downloading the drivers for a Lenovo wifi card, which happens to use the same chipset as the Tenda wifi card.

The driver is here:
https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds036289

It's a download direct from Lenovo, so should be safe. Whilst the webpage states that the driver is for Windows 7, other users have reported it works fine for Windows 10 as well.

Before installing a driver that is not designed for this PC I would take it back to Currys/PCWorld and get them to make the WiFi work. Installing drivers designed for the PC is one thing, installing drivers for other platforms might be construed as negligence...?

@elainef, I think you've done all you can be reasonably asked to do, it's time IMO to take it back to Currys and insist they make the WiFi work or ask for your money back.
