Trying to use my HDTV as a PC monitor

Hi I don't know if anyone can help?
I have a aspire x1420 with NVIDEA GEFORCE 6150SE Built in. I have purchased a VGA TO HDMI cable today but this does not work so I guess I am doing something wrong? The PC also has only 1 output which is VGA. My OS is windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated :)

I take it you switched the source input over?

There is a thing in control panel for mirroring your pc onto another screen or projector, probably in display settings, you can search the control panel for it though.

VGA output as far as I know is analogue, and an HDMI input is digital. A digital input receiving an analogue signal is not going to work.
If I was to be facetious I would say where you are fundamentally going wrong is by using GEFORCE 6150SE.

This is a forum provided by PC Specialist which is a business that sells bespoke PC systems.
