Updating RAM, is it safe using other makes?

As the name suggests, is it safe when upgrading the RAM in a laptop is it safe to use different makes e.g. 8GB SAMSUNG then installing a KINGSTON 8GB?

You can use different makes of ram,as long as it's the same type,(speed etc).

Oh good some friends of mine who "know" what they are talking about said you must get the same make or it screws it all up , cheers mate

I've used different brands with no problems,but it is advisable to use the exact same.
If using different brands make sure it's the same speed and recommended voltage.
