upgrade advice on cooler for cpu please

Hi all, So am going to be upgrading a couple fo parts soon with pcs , upgrading the 3080 to a 5070ti but was thinking of upgrading my cpu cooler as well,. Got the H115i elite capellix rgb at moment cooling my 5900x , but would like the temps to drop a little, and just think it would be a good time . I see in the cooler page they have the NZXT Kraken Elite 360 . It loooks good to me , anyone had one and can give an opinion before i add it to order ?

What case do you have? This will inform us of the max size of cooler that will fit, it may also be a good opportunity to replace the thermal paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet (graphene sheet).

But to answer your question, it is a good cooler, but not sure it’s worth almost £100 more than the cost of the Corsair Titan 360 LCD or double the cost of the non-LCD version.

I’m also not sure it would drop temps any further anyway, the H115 should be fine for that cpu. H115 is a 280mm radiator with 2 x 140mm fans so higher airflow with lower rpm, so quieter. The Elite 360 is a 360mm radiator with 3 x 120mm fans, so could get around 10% improvement IF there was any headroom on the processor but I don’t think there would be on the 5900x personally

AIOs don’t cool the same way as air, so you’ll have higher resting temps but a narrower delta between idle and load

That's why I was asking about the case, because if it has restricted airflow (or is in a 'cubby') then a bigger cooler may not show any benefit at all.

However, looking at the OP's previous posts, I think it is a Corsair 5000X, so it shouldn't be having any airflow issues...as long as the intake/exhaust/AIO fans are balanced and not pushing the air out before it's had chance to absorb heat from the rad.

Yeah, we totally missed that, wonder if it was just the extra cores to dedicate to a stream? No idea

Thank you for the input all. yeah i only went with the 5900x because of what was said on here at the time, been great cpu anyway . Regarding the cpu cooler . I am surprised that not worth an upgrade , but it saves me money, so thank you. looks like just the gpu then . Thank you
