Upgrade GPU?

Hi

I recently read a post that it is possible to upgrade the GPU in vortex IV.
So if my GPU burns out or it feels to weak in a few years i can just buy/upgrade a mobile GPU at PCspecialist and just place it the laptop myself?
Because when i look at pictures of the GPU it looks just like a chip (that is probably stuck on the motherboard) or am i wrong?

Also do you guys think dead pixel warranty for a year is a good idea? or a waste of money?
And what would be better? 1 8gb 1333 ram or 2 4gb 1600 ram ? (i heared that dual ram is slow then 1 stick ram)

And will the artic thermal paste make my gpu live longer or just run a few ° cooler?

Thanks for solving my questions and maybe more to come :D

If they have the GPU available yes. However if you are thinking of upgrading in 2 or 3 years time a replacement would be difficult to find and for newer cards it may need a new BIOS update that may or may not be available.

Yes, I got one.

No noticeable difference for gaming with either, if you are planning to add 16GB RAM in the future choose one stick of 8gb RAM.

In theory both, but regarding longevity of the gpu difficult to tell.

Ok thank you

So the samsung 1 stick 1333 ram and the dual stick kingston 1600 ram wont be much of a diffrence? also in my current laptop (burned out gpu) i have 2x 2gb would it be smart to also put them in the laptop so i have 12 gb? its DDR3 1333

Its a bit of a shame to hear i 'probably' wont be able to upgrade my gpu in a few years, thats a big letdown :/

As for the thermal paste, I believe PCS use Artic MX4, which is pretty good and suitable for both cpu and gpu's. It will probably lead to keeping the temps a few C lower, which is worth it in my opinion. But there is nothing stopping you buying the thermal paste separately and doing it yourself.

for the ram try and stick with the same brand, same speed and the same timings too.

As mentioned before no noticeable difference for gaming. Regarding the memory you have you could get an official response from PCS.

I am not saying it is not possible, if you get a vortex right now you can upgrade the gpu to any of the 700 series. But if you are thinking of replacing your current gpu in 2 or 3 years time I think the gpu will be discontinued by then and difficult to obtain. Any future GPUs could not be compatible with the chassis.

Fabricage-datum 2010, Week 39
Vormfactor SODIMM
Eigenaars-kenmerk Unknown
Bank-locator BANK 0
EPP SPD-ondersteuning Nee
XPM SPD-ondersteuning Nee
Ondersteunde frequenties 380 MHz, 457 MHz, 533 MHz, 609 MHz, 685 MHz
Geheugen-timings
JEDEC #1 5.0-5-5-14-19 at 380 MHz, at 1.5 Volts (CL-RCD-RP-RAS-RC)
JEDEC #2 6.0-6-6-17-23 at 457 MHz, at 1.5 Volts (CL-RCD-RP-RAS-RC)
JEDEC #3 7.0-7-7-20-27 at 533 MHz, at 1.5 Volts (CL-RCD-RP-RAS-RC)
JEDEC #4 8.0-8-8-22-30 at 609 MHz, at 1.5 Volts (CL-RCD-RP-RAS-RC)
JEDEC #5 9.0-9-9-25-34 at 685 MHz, at 1.5 Volts (CL-RCD-RP-RAS-RC)

So 1x 8gb samsung 1333 will run fine with my old combined?

And in theory in some years if the GTX 770m is not enough for me i can put GTX 780m in it?

Thanks again ^_^

[edit]

Also, is the SSD kingston hyperx much better then the kingston v300?

its 100 mbs faster in reading and 60 mbs faster in writing but will i notice the diffrence much? (ssd will be used for OS and most used software)
