Upgrade or New...

Hi,

For work I use autocad, photoshop, indesign, sketchup, vray and now twinmotion - the later that I understand uses GPU render.

feel that my GPU struggles...? at the moment and wonder if a change is possible...? and would be worth doing? enough power? does the motherboard support newer cards? and also add another 16gb of ram...?

basic pc build is

Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4790k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache
ASUS® Z97-A: ATX, USB3.0, SATA 6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE
16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2133MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB)
3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready
CORSAIR 750W RM SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO (120mm) Fan CPU Cooler

Thanks.

You can certainly upgrade to a new GPU with that system (making sure it fits in the case of course).

Be sure it's the GPU that's the bottleneck first.

In terms of adding more RAM, it's worth considering that carefully. In addition to the potential fun of making sure what you buy plays nice with your existing RAM, you're investing money into an obsolete platform. It may be worth considering a CPU, mobo, and RAM upgrade, especially given the leaps that have been made with core counts since you got that system. Assuming that'd be useful for your particular uses.

Hi, Thanks....yes thats the delima...when you say CPU, Mobo and Ram upgrade, coupled with a GPU = New PC....

When you talk about bottlenecks...is there a way to verify that?
