upgrading to windows 8

I want to upgrade my old xp desktop to windows 8. I've backed up the whole pc to a clickfree hard drive, now i'd like to wipe the whole thing and start fresh. how should i go about it. Should i buy w 8 online or instore and could i download it to a flash drive on my laptop? thanks in advance for any advice

You would need a retail copy of windows 8.1 on disk that you would then install onto the hard drive once you have formatted it.

You could run into a lot of compatibility issues upgrading an old XP machine to Windows 8,might be worth running Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant before doing so.
