I've had this problem ever since I updated my pc from windows 8 to windows 10. Basically my two USB 3.0 ports work fine but my USB 2.0 port is not working and doesn't recognise anything I plug in, basically nothing happens when I plug any type of usb device into it. I can still charge my phone and other usb devices so it has power!

Has anyone else suffered with this problem, its been like this for just under a year now but just got on without it but its annoying me!

Will this be from the clevo website then. Also their is a bios update for my laptop on the pcapecialist website is it with updating the bios as it says it will void my warranty if I update it as they haven't told me to update it.

I seem to have tried all avenues.

What i'm going to do now is install ubunto and see if it works on their.

I think it will as it used to work on windows 8 until I upgraded to windows 10.

I'll keep you informed as what happens!

You'll need the BIOS update for Windows 10 I suspect, that's almost certainly your problem. Give PCS a call, tell them of your issues and ask about flashing the updated BIOS. I'm quite sure they will give the go-ahead.

I have just installed windows 8.1 over windows 10 (oops) and the USB still doesn't work. Its probably just broken! Weird though as it still has power.

I'll try and ring today and see if I can update the firmware!

No there are no yellow exclamation marks next to the USB controller in the device manager.

Are the USB 2.0 ports recognised in the device manager then? If there isn't a driver for them they would be under "Other devices" with an exclamation mark next to it to identify this.

This is what I have a in device manager

The 8C2D one is the USB 2.0 one which isn't working.

Is the 8C26 working? That also appears to be a USB 2 controller?

Just an idea, but do you have a flashdrive that you could try in it? The reason I ask is that it takes any cabling out of the equation and it's one of the more simple devices driver wise.

Do you hear the device connected noise when you plug into the USB2, or is it literally just the power. Also, does anything change in the device manager when you plug a device in? Does it recognise that you have plugged something it but it just won't work past that?

I have tried loads of thing in this USB 2.0 port but non work, but everything works in the usb 3.0 ports.

I have 2 usb 3 ports on the left and one usb 2.0 port on the right of the laptop.

When i plug a hard drive in the drive spins round so its getting power but windows doesn't beep or anything.

Is this in every USB 2.0 port, as in none of them work? Or is it a particular one/pair that aren't working?

Well I only have 3 USB ports.

left hand side of the laptop has the 2 USB 3.0 ports and the right hand side of the laptop has one USB 2.0 port.

So its just the single USB 2.0 port thats not working but it still has power.

Its very strange.

Do you have anything listed in "other devices"?

I think EHCI stands for "Enhanced Host Controller Interface". I could be wrong though.
