usb 3.0 front connector

Have just purchased an Infinity Trion Barebones Gaming PC and see that it has a usb 3.0 front panel connector on the left. This connector did not work so I had a little look inside and found that there is a long 20 pin usb connector neatly coiled up behind the front panel. Is there any way I could utilise this usb 3.0 connector using an adaptor, The mobo is an asus A58M-E which does not have support for direct usb 3.0. Are there pci cards available that have an internal connection that I could connect the cable to or am I stuck with having to get a pci card with only rear connectors.

You need one of these.

Hi Sanj,

Thanks for getting back so quick. If I use the header cable you suggested then would I not be stuck with usb 2.0 ??

I just came across this on ebay. It seems to be just what I am looking for. It has two external usb 3.0 outputs for the rear of the chassis plus I will be able to link in my front panel usb 3.0 connector to give usb 3.0 connectivity on my existing front panel.

I hope this helps someone else out.

Yes that PCIe card is a better bet as it allows you to connect your front usb ports internally and still have a neat looking finish + have usb 3 speeds rather than having an extension cable sticking out the back or being stuck with just usb 2.0 speeds.

Agree about what Mantadog say's with the pci-e card being the better option for you,I only suggested the cable as a quick fix and also for you to make use of the existing internal USB 3.0 case cable.
