USB C issues between 2.0 and 3.0

Hi,
I've just bought a USB 3.1 hub which I've connected to an extension I made using a simple flat cable and a pair of female and male connectors to connect to my Samsung tablet.
When I connect my display alone, via HDMI to the hub, I have image on the tablet and on the display.
When I connect my mouse alone, via USB 2.0 to the hub, it shows on the tablet.
When I connect both display and mouse, the mouse doesn't work and the display shows the image as before.
Is there any interference between USB 3.0 and USB 2.0?
Is this protocol related?
Are they using the same lines for whatever reason? (I've checked and USB 2.0 have dedicated lines as USB 3.0 does)
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

This is probably not the right forum for this sort of thing, it's for support on PCSpecialist systems which are computers and laptops.

You may be better off trying an open forum like Toms Hardware.

But it's likely a power issue, if the hub doesn't have it's own power source connected.
