USB-C Socket uses.

Hello

I have recently puchased a new 17.3 Elimina Pro laptop. The USB-C socket on the rear has no markings around it and the specification for the laptop in one place show it as '1 x USB 3.1 PORT (Type C)', and the the detailed spec as '1 x USB 3.2 PORT (TYPE C)'.

Can anyone tell me if this can be used with a dock for video output, network cable, usb ports? I doubt even if it supported charging through this port that it could supply the required power but if a dock put power to this port whilst the laptop power supply was pluged in would this cause any problems/damage to the laptop.

Here are the specs.

It’s a usb c 3.2 port, the rest are USB A

So it will support DP over USB. So you’d need a USB C hub, NOT Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt although uses the usb c port is a different protocol.

Thanks SpyderTracks

If I had the laptop power supply pluged in and also had a powered hub with pass through power plugged in at the same time would this cause circuit damage?

I’m not certain about power delivery, that’s thunderbolt, or would have a specific symbol.

If it did it would only be to a max of 100w so wouldn’t be enough when the laptop was under heavy load anyway, so you’d have to use the power supply no matter what.
