Video 'Corruption' when booting Optimus V 17.3

I've had my Optimus V 17.3 for a short while now, and a coupel of days ago, I noticed that on bootup, there is a bit of what I can only describe as video corruption when I boot the laptop, while it displays the pcspecialist logo. Once it gets into Windows, it seems fine.

I made a video of the laptop booting up to demonstrate the issue. You can see the corruption at about 1 / 12 seconds into the video. Link to video - https://db.tt/A733mPRH

Is this a known issue? is it a fault with the laptop ?

It could be a sign of an issue but I'm not sure. I would guess you will have noticed the problem elsewhere if it was a fault. Try running a benchmark program (such as 3D mark) see if it runs ok and if you notice any anomalies during that.

Unless someone else can think of anything, I'd almost want to say I wouldn't worry about it, if the problem doesn't persist once the laptop is on then you should be fine. I guess you could get in touch with PCS to see if they concur with that or whether it is a precursor to a potentially more serious problem.

The PC Specialist logo is coming from the BIOS so the display driver there is very basic. What I think you're seeing as corruption is the splash screen with the rotating balls that you see on Windows 8 first boot. My guess is that the very basic display driver that the BIOS is using at that point can't display the Windows 8 splash screen properly. As soon as Windows starts you begin using the Windows display drivers and all is well.

It's not a problem as far as I can see, and I don't there is anything wrong with your laptop. If you really don't like it then you could always call PCS. You might find that your BIOS can disable the initial splash screen and then you probably won't see it at all.

This happened to me a long time ago. It somehow resolved itself though. I'm fairly sure nothing is wrong with the laptop itself.

There is definitely an option in the bios to turn off the splash screen, I have an Optimus 17.3 and have done so, and you
can turn off the w8 boot animation etc. too in w8, search for "System Configuration", select boot option, untick show gui.
