Viper III Laptop Fan & Stability issues.

I bought a ViperIII 18.4" HD laptop in 2012 but it has never really been right from day one and it's out of it's warranty but I'm hoping to get these issues fixed.

Currently when my laptop switches on one of the fan's draws in air very heavily, the laptop beeps very loudly and during each beep the Caps and Num lock lights blink. In in most cases the computer just loses power and switches off as if it's over heated (I have Realtemp installed and it never seems to get hot enough that it should shut down...).

I took it to a IT specialist that ran diagnostics and found no problems with any of the hardware (HDD, Graphics, RAM, CPUs). I was advised to try reinstall windows to eliminate any software issues but the problem persists. When the computer does anything intensive it does.

The laptop has pretty much always done this from a few months after I bought it from PC Specialist.

I think I've discovered the problem to be one of the case fans, when I examined the inside I found the power cable that runs to the motherboard is full of lacerations/nicks and breaks in the plastic wire cover. I was wondering if anyone what have a good idea on how I should proceed with the repair and if it's at all possible :/

Again the laptop hasn't really ever been right from day one and put up with the problem, but now the laptop is being very unstable...As you can imagine, it was a lot of money :(

Any help is appreciated.

Did you contact PCS at all regarding this problem near the time you bought it?

A fan should be quite easy to replace, there's usually just 3 or 4 screws holding it in.

I would call PCS and ask them if they could sell you a replacement fan and just replace it.

Hope this helps

Hi

Yeah it the fan would be easy enough to replace, but I'm not sure what model of fan I should by that fits to the case, unless they're quite universal. I haven't been in contact with PC Specialist simply because my 1 year warranty came to end when the fault became more serious. When I first bought the laptop it had to go back to them because they had put in incompatible RAM and then after than it ran fine for about 6 months. When the fault started it wasn't all that consistent and was pretty easy to ignore.

If I knew what kind of fans the Viper III laptop cases used I could easily replace it and see if that resolved my problems.

Cheers for the response.

I think the correct model number of the laptop is a clevo p270wm however i'm struggling to find any fans for sale for it. A lot of sites are banned at my work so i cant check sorry.

If you give PCS a call they might be able to order up for you and then send it to you to be sure, even though its out of warranty they will still be able to help you source a part for it i would hope.

Sorry i cannot be any more help to you than that.
