Vortex II - Selling + HDD Wipe Advice

Hello,

Decided to sell on my Vortex II I've had for 12 months, so it's now sat on Ebay ticking away - I was wondering if anyone can tell me the best method of totally wiping the partition and all data before it's sold. I was going to just insert the Win 7 CD on boot and delete the partition that way, but does anybody have other suggestions?

You could use the OS disk and select the "format" option bearing in mind with this method there is always a chance to recover files using recovery tools,so if you have important data, you may want to use one of the utilities that claim to permanently erase your private data, for example KillDisk, or Disk Wipe which is free,

Just how reliable these are,I don't know.

Hi,

I used DBAN http://www.dban.org/

You create a CD which you then boot from and this will wipe everything from any disk it finds installed.

We use something similar at my work for wiping Confidential/Secret Hard Drives and it works a treat.

The only problem I could see for reselling however is that you would have to sell it without an OS, or put on a fresh install of Win 7 from your Boot CD afterwards.

Thanks guys, still got a few days left on it yet, so will give them a go.

Wiping it fully won't be an issue as I'm including the Win7 CD in the sale for the buyer to use.
