Vortex III 17.3" Matte Display for photo editing.

How can I ensure that I GET a AUO B173HW01 v.5 display and NOT a ChiMei N173HGE screen?

Can it be specified somehow at the time of ordering?

Some posters have stated that they get the grainy inferior ChiMei display when they were
assured they would get the better AUO display.

I will be spending a grand and a half so I won't be getting another laptop anytime
soon so I want the best display I can get as I will be using it mostly for photo editing.

Probably the only sure way of getting what you want is to phone PCS.

We do not stock the Chi-mei screen anymore and only a few customers have received this model (in error I must add). The Chi-mei matte screen comes with the SkyFire notebook by default and when customers have changed to glossy, some stock managed to get mixed in with the AUO stock.

If I phone the office tomorrow and tell you my quote number would it be possible to give an estimate of a delivery date?

I know stock of certain items can be a problem. Sometimes suppliers don’t delver on time, which is obviously out of your control.

Unfortunately we cannot provide estimated delivery dates for individual orders. We treat all orders equally and currently the estimated lead time for laptops is 6 to 8 working days.

You know how it is, you spend ages reading up on all the different bit and then finally place and order and want it next day ;-)

Patients is a virtue, so they say. ;-)

It was just that I read that some people have waited weeks and weeks because certain items were not in stock so I was considering it might be possible to change the spec to include components that you do have in stock.
