What's your max budget? Ideally you would want an overclocked i7. I would also switch the PCIE SSD for an m.2 to allow better airflow for the GPU. No need for the fan controller

Thanks for the advice Jerpers, I hadn't considered the air flow issue. I'm trying to keep it in the low £2000s. I take it the fans operate constantly without a fan controller? Here is the revised spec.

Thanks for the advice Jerpers. I'm looking at around the £2200 mark.

I can squeeze in the top spec option i7 if I reduce the SSD to a 128gb on the M2.

I hadn't considered the airflow issues of the SSD placement, so extra thanks for that.

I've removed the fan controller too. I take it the extra case fans will just run constantly when the computer is on now?

If you can do £1500 for the base unit, have a look at the define X1 in the review section. It is £1800 worth of PC so a great discount. You need to click order now for that price then can contact PCS to add the peripherals later.

That's a very good spot thank you, covers my requirements and is £400 cheaper than my custom rig. Will the CPU cooler be good enough for the overclocked processor?
Would it be customisable before shipping (via email etc) or would I have to send it back later for upgrades?
Obviously it goes up if you try to configure it, but I would like to get everything in one go to get it all under the finance that PCS offer.

The noctua is an outstanding cooler. It is on par with the H80i easily. I only have the h100 so I can run more fans at slower speeds to keep it quieter. I missed your question about the fans. Many cases have built in controllers for the case fan. If it is not built in, the fans are usually connected to the mobo and you can control them with software.

I've gone ahead and ordered the X1. It's bang on for what I want specs wise. Thank you very much for the info, you've saved me about £700
