Vyper 17: Werk Laptop

I edit a lot of photo's and video's for my work, and I also create video-ads in 3D programs for my webshop. Also like to do a game on it from time to time, but for this specifically I will assemble a gaming PC later this year. For these few games I'll play I got an extra cooling option, an external sound card for 7.1 and a headset for 7.1. I think the games that I cannot play on my 5 year old gaming PC due to OS incompatibilities, for example Need for Speed - Heat and Sea of Thieves, I should be able to play them on this laptop in my free time.

Primarily I paid attention to the power management of the setup when I use my working applications, that's why I picked the RTX 2080 Max-Q - which demands ~85W, over the stronger but cheaper RTX 2070 Super that demands ~215W. It wouldn't be convenient if I had to recharge my laptop every hour when I'm working while using a lot of GPU power.

Buy something good, even though it's a bit more expensive, then you have something that will last a while! First I'll focus on paying back this investment, but judging by all the reviews I've seen on every product and the service from PCSpecialist, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Laptop got in today! Expected it the 14th according to DPD, but got it 13th afternoon. Also I had an e-mail saying the extra adapter wasn't in stock but I received it anyway. Was also warned beforehand that the mousepad did not have a warranty but it turns out it does :p Only pleasant surprises so far!

So after I got everything up and running, installed some things I needed and ran Windows update, personalized some configurations and tweaked Windows 10 I realized the battery ran dry rather fast, after a few hours, and it takes about 3-4 hours to recharge again. This was mainly caused by CPU usage. The laptop gets pretty hot fast due to all the CPU usage though CPU temperatures don't seem to exceed 67°C on heavy load. I think the Cooler Master L2 standard may have helped mitigate a few degrees too.

Also found that the 7.1 headset only has a USB plug so it cannot be linked to the external sound card. Fortunately I can still use the sound card for my gaming setup later this year. This was a mistake from my side, I could've known if I did more research on this specific headset. The one in question is the Corsair Void Elite. Though I plugged it in the laptop directly and the quality of the sound is incredible! No external sound card needed if your purpose is gaming, so that fact made up for it. Only downside is there are only 3 USB ports on this laptop, 1 being always in use for the wireless mouse, another to power the Cooler Master L2 standard.

Beyond this, everything else went smoothly and I'm quite happy with my purchase! Though we may want an extra USB Hub under the peripherals in the configurator for the future. 9/10, will make a purchase again at PCSpecialist later this year!

Just so you know, most decent gaming headsets have their own on board soundcard, so would bypass any on board sound.
