warranty transfer?

Hiya - I can't afford the Vortex 3 I am after on here as the spec I need is about £70 out of my budget. But I've found someone selling the exact laptop purchased from here, with the exact spec (bar a SSD upgrade) and a 3 year silver warranty plan on it. What I'm wondering is, how would I go about transferring the warranty? He's stated he will transfer ownership, probably including just a note with the item saying I hereby transfer my legal ownership of this laptop to ______ (potentially me depending on the warranty situation) so what I am wondering is, can I transfer the warranty to myself from him? he is including the receipt with the laptop as it is only 3 weeks old. He's selling due to lack of use and he knows he won't use it often, however I can't really rely on going to him to deal with warranty proceedings because its from ebay.
Can I transfer the warranty?

thanks!

I'd be careful dude,

I don't see why someone would spend that much money for a ace gaming laptop then go to sell it on ebay only three weeks later...

indeed. it might be broken out-of-warranty (ie he broke it himself through misuse) and therefore PCS have no obligation to fix it. i would honestly just take the £70 loss to have peace of mind.

edit: what spec were you after? we might be able to reduce the price without sacrificing too much performance :)

On an additional note, this question was asked before on the forums, I'd agree with Rakk's assessment in the following post (its unlikely the warranty is transferable...). I guess it might be worth asking PCS directly though?

Saying that however I would agree with tom and Adli's advice above - Post your desired spec to the forums and you can almost guarantee someone will find a way of saving the £70.

hiya - sorry for the delay! erm, the spec im after, well, I am trying to convince myself not to part with 1200 odd quid for a gaming laptop when i have an uber gaming desktop - what is this that I can upgrade the GPU later down the line? Im thinking of downgrading my spec really the thing that made it so high was the GPU - what can you guys do laptop wise for say 700? with a bareable gpu that will play Diablo 3, fifa 12 and gta 4 and battlefield 3 at decent fps (but not 1080p, im not too fussed if its less resolution for better frame rates and low lag)
So for the purpose of this, say my budget is £700, for a laptop that will run these games smoothly. If possible, I hear you can upgrade it later anyway, so if i decide I need a new gpu in a years time, I'll get it as and when its needed :)
Thanks!

Or the Inferno 11.6, the difference is the inferno has a 2gb ddr3 card, vs the optimus with a 1gb ddr5 card, and obviously the optical drive, and the price difference is minimal. but for gaming, which would be the best? size isn't an issue, portability would be a bonus but not at the sacrifice of immense performance difference. thanks in advance!

I would be careful when considering upgrading the laptops gpu, some are upgradable however some are soldered in and will not be.

I think this was discussed in this thread.

the GPU in the Optimus is soldered to the chassis/motherboard as far as i know, meaning you wont be able to upgrade it.
