No problem, it was me trying not to go off topic with this being no longer a General Discussion so I created a new thread.
FWIW you can now delete #18 as I've edited the last sentence of #17.

Wozza and grimsbymatt - I've now sorted it, thanks. Naturally enough it was just me thinking my router password was the default one rather than me having changed it - it was neither of those as Netgear now supply a different password for every new router and it was recorded on the box!

After that, we got the home screen up, so I'll probably get the rest of my bits all working now.

Android isn't a bit like Windoze!

All working now - my GMX email now can see my laptop and I've got full internet connection. It's a nice little device and small enough to stick in my pocket.
