What's the policy on broken fans in laptops?

I have an Optimus IV coming up for a year and yesterday I noticed a (very slight) rattle coming from the fan. Nowhere near enough to warrant any great concern, but enough to make me think that it's on it's "down hill" ride.

Could I get a new replacement for it as I would imagine it falls under "wear and tear"?

Or would I need to pay for a new one?

You should be able to request a new fan if you are within the first 12 months since you purchase the laptop.
