Which RGB Case Please?

Hi Friends,

Please find my current spec below. I would like an RGB-lit case and Corsair provide some pretty attractive options.

I'm pairing the desktop with a Samsung G9 Odyssey and I want to ensure I have enough desk space to keep the desktop next to the monitor. I currently have the CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 680X RGB GAMING CASE selected but the CORSAIR OBSIDIAN SERIES™ 500D SE CASE is much thinner and will leave me more desk space to play with.

Do you have any thoughts on build quality / cooling / looks trade-offs please?

Thank you!!!!

Great to see that the 500D is back in stock.

Both the 680x and 500D are popular cases, and well endorsed on the forums. I know @Gavras rocks a 500D and swears by it. So either case would do a great job, but as you have pointed out the 500D is a bit narrower so may fit your desk space more appropriately.

If you posted your full build we could give it a quick once over, always worth it when investing into a top-end pc.

Thank you for the swift reply!! I really liked the 680X because it had a clear glass cover instead of a tinted glass cover. I wanted to show off the internals more.

Just curious, will I be able to fit 2 graphics cards into either case?

Build looks pretty solid.
I would increase your boot drive to 500GB, and you can drop the arctic paste as the H115i comes with premium paste pre-applied.
What are you going to be using your PC for? Depending on use you may be able to manage with 16GB RAM just fine, and not sure how much benefit a second GPU could be.

Yep the 500D SE is not only good looking but it’s cool as well.

Unfortunately I just tried to change my case to the CORSAIR 500 SE case but I get the following message that blocks me from doing this:

"Checking your specification...

We've checked your specification for compatibility. Please make amendments to your specification based on our advice below:

The cooler and case option that you have selected are incompatible with the taller RGB memory. Please amend one of these products."

I'm not keen on switching out parts to make the case work, any ideas please??

Go for the 680X, it's the right thing to do. Champagne will fall from the heavens, doors will open, velvet ropes will part. You will be a connoisseur.

Ok I hear you loud and clear. I had to order a new desk to fit the Samsung G9 and this new case on so I was getting worried about desk space from the wider 680X case... fingers crossed I can squeeze them both on...

Also, is there any way I can add extra Corsair fans to the case on the back and the bottom? One on the back and 2-3 on the bottom The Amend Order function shows me this option:
"3x Corsair LL120 RGB LED fan plus controller kit"
I want it to look like the promotional video on Corsair's website here,

I guess that will work?

Thanks, guys :D Any thoughts on the extra fans for asthetics point?
They wouldn't be necessary, you'd have ample airflow. But if you like the look of them go for it. Just check and make sure they'll actually fit in, sometimes you'll get a message telling you that the case only supports a certain amount of fans in there (y)

That is entirely down to you....Mr Cooper there would argue that you need to fit in as many flashy lights as the case will possibly allow ;) Me, on the other hand, would say the 680x is fine with just the stock fans..... but then I'm not a flashy lighting person, although I do admit I love the 680x
I do love them lights. If it doesn't look like a rainbow has been sick inside the case, I'm not interested.

Hi all,

How can I make my spec even more RGB-crazy - I want it to be max-RGB'd out.

Thank you!

The 3090 isn’t a gaming card and most likely you will be wasting money on something you won’t use to anywhere its full capability. The vast majority of humans will not be able to notice any change in frame rate much above 120 Hz. 240 Hz is more for kudos than performance.

It’s a solid build, personally i’d up the ram for 2x16gb 3600. Other than that... will be a killer machine.
