I'm looking for a good gaming/work build that will last for 3-5 years and was wondering about HDD/SSD setup.
Currently have this in my order
1st Storage Drive2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE
down_right_arrow.gif
Partitions: 1000GB, 1000GB
1st M.2 SSD Drive1TB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W)
down_right_arrow.gif
Partitions: 250GB, 750GB
Is this a good M.2 SSD Drive option or i should pay a little extra for smth else (what else)?

Thanks for advise.

Can you post the full specs?

What’s your max budget?

What work uses?

And what monitor are you pairing it with? What resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you’re unsure?

What kinds of games? Any flight sims?

i'm getting 1440 ultrawide (120hz)
DCS world, IL-2, Cyberpunk, RDR2, Paradox games, various simulation games (KSP, Factorio, etc) but want to be able to run pretty much anything that comes out in the next few years

So 3440 x 1440?

My only concern would be the GPU / CPU balance given your uses and monitor.

If it were me, I’d rebalance it for the 5900x CPU and 3070 GPU which I think would give a better balanced system overall.

I just think the 6 cores of the 5600x is going to hamper any video editing and certainly AI and Machine Learning.

Gimme a sec and I’ll give an alternative and then you can see where your priorities lie.

An extra EUR127. But would 3070 be a good long lasting option? Particularly with only 8GB onboard?
Also in terms of SSD slots, is PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W) a good option?

But an extra on top of what? You never mention the cost?

3070 performs absolutely fine. The first upgrade will be the GPU anyway, you never overspec the GPU, leads to worse performance over the long term and costs more.

1988 Eur so far.

So you recon 3070 will be enough for a couple of years?

I would say rebalancing it would be far better for your uses. And for an ultrawide, you don't need the 3080. Unfortunately we can't squeeze in the 5900x under budget, but I'd say this is better balanced to cater for all uses and the GPU will be fine for the monitor:

yeah, I have 5 amends already=) I might swap for 3070 indeed.. Thank you! But on the topic question.. SSD (for OS and Games), is PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W) the way to go?
They are good value for money drives, I've 2 in my desktop & 1 in my laptop

Sorry, totally forgot to answer that.

Yes, although it’s a value drive, they’re excellent performers for the price. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them.
