Why can't I increase my C Drive partition?

Hi

I'm trying to resize my C Drive, currently 150Gb, to 250Gb and reduce the D Drive (part of the same disc), currently 350Gb to 250Gb but the 3 brands of partitioning software I've used to try to do this have all said the 150Gb is the max.

At first I thought the issue was with the partitioning software but after trying 3 brands without success, I'm having to conclude it's the hardware.

Here is my PC Specialist spec:

I have increased the D Drive partition by 100Gb as below and rebooted the PC, fully expecting to be able to increase the size of the C Drive by 100Gb but I can't increase it by anything (the double headed arrow icon is at max) :-(

Help appreciated!

Thank you.

Yes, I did that, as I stated and is shown as such, in "Unallocated" (before I took the screenshot above, when I reverted it back to how it was because it didn't work i.e. the system couldn't 'see' the additional 100Gb available for the C Drive).

I think you need to get the unallocated directly to the right of the c drive partition, so you can then expand the c drive into it

Thanks. I've just recreated the 100Gb partition (labelled it H TEMP) and tried moving it to the left but no luck. I've also tried merging it with the C Drive, as below, but it's greyed out - maybe the Attributes gives a clue why, but I don't see what the solution is.

Resolved using the paid version of AOMEI and Allocate Free Space feature from H Drive, which free version/other software didn't have.

Bit late, obviously, but I don't understand why you were using 3rd party software to do this? The Disk Manager that you copied the screenshot above allows you to shrink and expand partitions.

Glad you got it resolved regardless.
