Why is this PC Specialist laptop so cheap?

Hi,
My wife may soon be in the market for a new laptop. It would be purely for web browsing (eg YouTube) and email - nothing demanding at all. The cheaper the better.

This caught my eye.

It does seem very cheap - I see that the specs are pretty low, but what would I expect for £198? I would have thought it would be OK for the above uses? I see that it has a "silver aluminium chassis" - I would have expected a laptop at this price to be all plastic?

Does anyone have any experience of this machine? Is the screen useable? Have thereany sacfrices that may have been one too many to get the price that low?

Should it run thunderbird for email and Chrome for browsing and should it play YouTube videos OK?

Thank you.

It's not a laptop, it's a netbook, has a 4 year old low power processor and only 4Gb RAM which would only just run windows.

It's also got a max eMMC storage chip of 128Gb

It's designed more for small children for school with a linux OS or Chromebook OS, certainly not powerful enough as any kind of laptop.

Hmm.

There's an idea. Mint.

But I guess that may struggle with YouTube?

As above, you wouldn't be able to run Windows on it, you'd have to do linux or ChromeOS. There's no where near enough resources to run a windows desktop.
Not one usually to speak out like this but if what you say is right @SpyderTracks then PCS should not really be offering this out with Windows 11 Home on it without a warning that its likely to be the absolute bare minimum spec to run it.
