Wifi and other options

Hello,

it's been mentioned a few time instead if using a wifi card you could use either a usb adaptor or a power line kit.

how do you know which ones best for your intended uses and what's the right sort of budget to have?

Current set up, Plus net wifi set up on ground floor by external wall. my PC is on the first floor. i believe it all on one power system. but possibly different fuses for ground and 1st floor.
Currently have Plusnet unlimited broad band.
would it be bes fo do for power line adaptor and should you spend more than £30?

In real terms there's probably not much difference for average home use to wifi or powerline.

Powerline will be affected by the house's electricity cables. Wifi can perform less well with range and with things in the way (e.g. going through multiple floors of your house).

In our house, we get at least double the speed off a £10 wifi adapter bought off Amazon as we do off a £50 powerline kit.

But if you're only on regular broadband and not fibre optic, and if you don't have network storage that you transfer lots of files to either, then you probably won't notice the difference. It's unlikely that either would bottleneck your broadband.
