Wildstar GPU comparison before buying.

So I'm shopping for laptops for my girlfriend and I'm confused as to which to get.

GPU with GeForce 745m 2gb
or GeForce 825m 1gb

For Wildstar and The Sims 3 (and 4 when released)

Help a guy out :(

Requirements for WS are NVIDIA GeForce® 8800 GT, ATI® Radeon® HD 3850, or better So I'm a little confused

Both are fairly pants...

According to notebookcheck.net the 825m can play the sim city (only one they benchmark by the looks of it) at about 70fps at 720p on lowest. The 745m 75fps on lowest @ 720p. Not a great deal between them. Now bear in mind that is on absolute minimum settings. The integrated GPU on an intel mobile CPU should give somewhere around those numbers too. So I wouldn't get either of those.

An 860m is exactly what you're looking for id say, so yes the Optimus V looks good to me. That will allow you full 1080p and decent settings on even some fairly modern games, so yes it will play the sims etc every well.

I can get 4GB, 8GB etc just fine, not sure what the problem is.

Yeh I just meant that I'd have to customise it, can't just buy it straight as it is, no problem intended

Even if you buy it exactly as it is it is still 'custom' built. Unless you buy it from the 'need it fast' section then every build is custom made.

Wildstar isn't very GPU intensive so mid range GTX card will do the work. I have a friend playing on an old GTX560M just fine. However, both Sims 3 and Wildstar are CPU intensive, so I suggest investing more into CPU rather than the GPU if those games are the focus. I play Wildstar myself, I have an i7 3720QM and it runs great. Typically ~60FPS with vsync on. Without vsync climbs up to 70-80fps. More intensive parts will drop to 40-50 range. All settings being medium/high. Very playable for a laptop I'd say.

Wildstar is also pretty leaky in the memory department. So I'd suggest more than 4gb of RAM. 8GB would be good.
