Windows 7 won’t start, screen goes dark

Hi,
My desktop is about 2 years old and when I turned it on today, it would not start.

When I press the start button, after a few seconds there is a beep, and the PC Specialist screen is presented with text at bottom “Please press DEL or F2 to enter UEFI BIOS setting

Then it sits there at that screen for a few minutes, and then the screen does dark.

The desktop is from PC Specialist, Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor i7-4930K (3.4GHz) 12MB Cache, Motherboard ASUS® SABERTOOTH X79: SOCKET 2011, R.O.G

I have tried this many times, and same thing happens.

When I press DEL or F2 nothing happens.

I have tried pressing these continuously after I press the start button… tried holding them down…. tried the same with F8…. but still the same behaviour as if the keys are not working.

The keyboard is an USB one, so I tried plugging it into one of the other USB sockets… same behaviour.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Does anyone have an answer for this problem? My son has exactly the same problem. I have tried to phone PCS but hung up after half an hour of waiting so have emailed but still received no reply! Can anyone help? Thanks.

This is the same issue I have and my desktop is about the same age. Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this but less good that no one seems to know of a cause or fix - anyone have any idea what it might be??
