I got my pc on xmas day, its been brilliant until, the computer was acting up. The boot time would be around 1 min and 30 secs on a caviar black!, it would run very slowly some times, and also today there was some writing in the bottom left hand side of the desktop saying "This Version Of Windows Is Not Genuine" or something like that. So im getting a bit mad right now because i just payed £79 for a REAL copy of windows and didn't get it. Also the anti virus keeped getting disabled every time I shut the pc down. Can anyone help or am I going to have to get my money back?

Did you enter the correct key for Windows when you first booted the machine, could you have accidentally typed it in wrong (admittedly if you do I thought it normally rejected it there and then but I could be wrong)?
If you didn't enter the Windows key when you first set up your machine, have you tried doing so since then?

You won't have to get your money back, I'm sure it will be quite sortable.

If you're sure you put the right code in, then you may want to try and get a screen shot of the message it is giving you and give PCS a call (their lines are open on Saturday mornings), and I'm sure they will be able to get Windows working properly for you.

if you got a windows 7 cd case and the sticker is affixed to the back of your pc with a hologram it most certainly is genuine and its more likely your pc is infected and most likely asking you to input your account details to purchase a vaild copy of windows. personally id get avast or avira antivirus off the net and run a full system scan if the problem persists you will most liely need to do a system format and reinstall windows if you need any other help ring pcs on 0844 499 4000 but check here 1st to see wait times http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/call-waiting/

Yeah, I just thought of that too, quite possibly a virus of some sort.

I did a scan with microsoft security essentials and there was no nastys there. Will give them a call then. Thanks guys

Do this:

Start > Right click 'Computer' > Properties and see what it says. If it says it's not genuine there, then give PCS a ring. If it says 'Invalid Key' OR 'Click here to activate Windows' do so.

i second what bowen said. I'd go for avast, has a boot time scan.
