Windows license and warranty question

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum section for this sort of question but basically the laptop I've purchased ( it had new windows license) from pc specialist a couple years ago is broken and won't switch on. I have 2 newbie questions.

First question is - is there a way to transfer the license from broken laptop to new pc I would buy from pc specialist? I know I would have to deactivate it on old device in order to move the license, but is there a way to do it if laptop won't turn on?

Secondly, aforementioned laptop had HDD drive plus additional SSD drive. Am I allowed to open the case and plug that SSD to my new desktop under the warranty terms?

You could only transfer the license if you’ve converted it to digital by tying it to your Microsoft account.
Yes, you can keep any 2.5” drives, but you’ll find most modern laptops only support M2 drives nowadays.

I logged in to my microsoft account and I can see my old laptop added there. Serial number says "not applicable" but there's an option which says "remove laptop" . Is that how it's done? Remove laptop and then provide the details of another PC I would like to link with that license?

Regarding SSD, it wasn't a part of the original build, I've only added it last year. Here's the model I have, which I want to move from the laptop to desktop

Yes, so you can just remove the laptop from your devices on your microsoft account, then you just need to sign in to the new laptop with your microsoft account and that should automatically apply the license.

That's an M2 drive so will work in any modern laptop.

PCS have an open chassis policy where you can add or remove components as you like without affecting warranty so long as you don't do any damage in the process.
