Have a vortex 3 with intel wireless n 135 that for some reason wont go to N wireless.

Everything else in house with N just goes straight to N speed with new router but my laptop wont.

Is there a way to set it to manually use N always?

Thanks

Assuming you're running Windows 7 or Windows 8 go to the Network & Sharing Center, click on Change Adapter Settings, then right-click on your wifi adapter and select Properties. In the dialog box that opens click on the Configure button and then the Advanced tab. Check that 802.11n mode is enabled.

There is a description of what most of those settings do here.

It was enabled already and everything else seems alright.

Ive tried a through Linux mint on a seperate partition same machine and its fine.

Speedtest on Windows ~ 18mbps
Speedtest on Linux mint ~ 48mbps

Windows will not connect to router when router is set to only N, Linux will.
Gonna try uninstalll and reinstall card now.

Edit - That sorted it. In the properties tab described above i hit uninstall then restarted with ethernat plugged in.

Speedtest on Windows is now ~ 47mbps
