So i'm in need of a new powerhouse of a laptop, I currently have a MacBook Pro and iMac desktop which i know people will turn there noses up at but, they were bought for me from old companies that I worked for. So looking at getting a decent powerhouse of a Laptop to work on some quite gpu intensive programs i.e. Adobe Suite, AutoCAD etc. I also want to start pc gaming again so something that would be able to handle the newer AAA Games. So Far Been Looking at the laptop specs below just wondered what people thought.

Any suggestions welcome got a budget o around £1300

Would it be worth getting the system with no OS to make it cheaper to get better spec? and install the windows os later if i already have a product key?

Yes, absolutely, no need to buy a further license if you already have one. If it's not a retail key ie OEM supplied with a laptop it's tied to the original hardware it was activated on, but you can still legitimately tie it to your windows account and transfer it over:

Do you need a mobile laptop? Would you be ok with a desktop replacement which is a slightly thicker laptop format but with desktop CPU's inside?

This is what I was thinking with the desktop replacement, it's over budget, but the performance difference between what you posted and this would just be night and day:

Ideally needs to be as mobile as possible but currently working off of a friend MSI GE72MVR 7RG Apache Pro that a friends has let me borrow for now which is quite thick and don't really mind it. Wouldn't want to go up to the 17inch that it is as think its to big. Also would it be worth spending the extra 270 on top of my budget to get the nova with ryzen 9 and GTX 2070 instead?

Also i know this is a hard question to answer but what's the future proofing like on one of these machines? as i know people who have had to replace laptops every 2/3 years, compared to my mac lasting me 7 years so far.

A Mac is an entirely different beast to a gaming laptop, they're totally different use cases. The platform of a laptop (CPU, RAM, motherboard and chassis) will happily last 7 to 10 years. I'm still using mine I bought in 2014 daily without any issue. Plus, AMD Ryzen 3000 vs any Intel on offer will last significantly longer, they're incredible chips compared to Intel.

It's when you throw in a gaming GPU. The point with a GPU is that will be the first bottleneck in any laptop or desktop. In desktops you can switch them out for a newer model, in laptops you can't. Gamers consider the lifetime of a GPU to be about 2 - 3 years. So in a laptop you tend to overspec the GPU as much as possible as that will signify the lifetime of the build for graphical intensive operations.

2070 and 3900x would be a very worthwhile investment and greatly improve the lifespan of the machine if you can foot the budget, that's really the optimum. The 2070 will excel at 1080p and as a hardware acceleration for your uses for a good 5 years plus I would imagine unless something radical happens in the graphics space in the near future to change that.

So if you had a choice to over spec gpu or cpu which would you do?
sorry to be asking so many questions

If it were me, personally, I'd opt to up the GPU. You can swap out the CPU on that chassis certainly for the same AMD 3000 series, and possibly the next generation depending on if AMD stick with the AM4 socket (but I've heard rumours that they're going to be a newer socket). The GPU you're absolutely stuck with. And the 3700x is still a very capable processor for your uses.
