Its just what I know really and didn't know much about AMD CPUs
Well to be blunt it's a poor decision, there's not much to know. AMD just have Intel beat on pretty much every single metric at the minute so they are very difficult to recommend.

I'd also say that Motherboard is massive overkill for the build but it depends on what features you're looking for?

I'd also be looking to change your storage set up, can you let me know what your budget is what this will be used for and what monitor you'll be using? we can definitely help optimise this to make sure you get the most for your money

The budget was around £2500 so far its come in just under that.

The motherboard was the only one available at the time I recall I think that's why I picked it.

My only reluctance with changing the CPU now is the stock for AMD CPU's seemed to fluctuate a lot, but I'll listen to any recommendations.

The monitor I currently have is this https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/monitor/detail/1131/C34H890 But on payday I plan on getting https://www.samsung.com/us/computin...itor-with-1000r-curved-screen-lc34g55twwnxza/

Its will be mostly gaming and some small rendering in blender every now then.

That's a very healthy budget mate, for your uses and needs I'd be aiming for something like this

5000X case is one of the best cases available so it's hard not to recommend. Some great quality of life features too that make cable management a breeze

5800x is THE gaming CPU at the minute. Only real competitor is the 5900x which has more cores and marginally better single core speed.

3200Mhz RAM and 32GB to help with rendering in Blender

Went for the 3070Ti as I feel that would be a good pair for your monitor. The savings from the 3080 will also allow us to bolster the rest of the build with the future in mind

Completely changed the storage set up, fastest drive available for the OS the 980 Pro. Included the 2TB M.2SSD for games and anything that you feel could benefit from faster read and write speeds.

Included a 2TB HDD for general storage like videos, models, pictures, etc.

Went for a 1000W PSU, the GPU these days are climbing drastically in their power consumption. I suspect this could continue in future so why not plan for it now and make sure you'll always have the power available to make the upgrades you need?

CPU cooler to match the 5800x, the CPU runs really really hot so you need something that's good enough to keep it really cool and the H115i is up to the task

This is what I'd be doing if I was you mate, any questions fire away

If i was you I'd create a quote from this, give PCS a call and get it swapped over

as steve said above, there is no reason to go for intel, and quite frankly it is bad choice. Switching to AMD would definitely be a better idea, however that has to be done through support. Considering your whole wait time is only due to GPU, this should not change your position in queue at all

It'll likely speed it up, the 3070 Ti is more available than the 3080 at the minute I believe

As a quick comparison between mine and your build

I went for a "lesser" motherboard but one that is paired nicely with your CPU. The HERO is phenomenal but only really recommend on the pinnacle of top end builds and the GPU is a downgrade

Everything else in the build has been upgraded however so it's far better value for your money in the long term

Is there are large difference between the 3070ti to the 3080 strix?

It really depends on the use case, the 3080 is definitely a better GPU but we would recommend a different monitor to pair with it

You should never compromise a build for a GPU though as it's the component that gets changed the most. In a year or two you'll likely have a different GPU in your computer but in 5 years you'll probably still have the same PSU and CPU so it's more important to get the best you can in those areas now for example

The 3070 Ti will offer great performance and a great experience for your needs right now will also helping sure up the rest of your build. To put a 3080 in there means we're going to have to make compromises to the core of the build which will affect longevity. it's really down to what's most important to you.

A build that will last 5-7 years or a build that will offer power now for a shorter lifespan

Yes, 3080 is a 4k 144Hz card, 3070ti is a 1440p 144hz card.

For the G5 you posted that you'll be upgrading to the 3080 would be pointless and not used to it's potential.

Okay understood. I'll speak to them asap. its only 231 pounds more than my current build so I'm more than happy to switch. Hopefully it doesn't rock the queue much.

Thanks for your help. Pretty Happy with that

Yeah, if you do it over the phone we've had people in the past who've been able to switch to an AMD platform without losing their place in the queue, let us know how you get on.

IN BUILDING GUYS. 136 days all in with the switch from the strix 3080. SO HAPPY.
What a slog! You were in it for the long haul there, buddy. Glad you’re reaching the end of the journey, I’m sure the wait will be worth it 🙂👍
