YouTube VR Content Creator First Home PC

Hello all!

So long story short, in the previous months I was preparing myself for a whole ordeal with creating a space for my PC physically and now finally made the final decisions with the configuration. I wanna show you all the list and maybe you'll pinpoint something I missed or need to change. I was heavily looking into the connection game between VR headset and PC, we're talking about DisplayPorts, USB-C thunderbolt connection, possibly wireless streaming, these kind of things. I was considering going all the way in with the graphic card, but I realised that maybe it's better to tone it down since 4k VR is still a long way to go. I was also looking at speed and rendering potential in my spec if we're talking about making videos. The streaming/recording hardware like Elgato will probably come later once I'll settle down with the whole setup. I dunno, ask me any questions while I'm waiting two weeks for the PC to arrive lol.

Consider a Ryzen 3900x or upcoming 3950x for the extra threads. These will help out with content creation.

Your motherboard is very good, but is it all going to be put to use? Consider a TUF plus as an alternative? Saving money for elsewhere.

Your not utilising a M.2 drive but you have some SSDs, M.2s are reasonably priced and perform better than 2.5/3.5 inch drives.

A H100x outperforms the H60 so consider that option. By dropping the premium paste and additional case fans and getting a h100 you'll have greater cooling performance anyway.

That's all points to start off with...

To get some more tailored advice, do you already have a or any monitors?

What does this cost, what is your budget?

What games do you play? Listing your favourite 3 is a good starting point.

Because of my unfamiliarity of Ryzen/AMD stuff I'm usually too scared to go that way for the setups.

This motherboard is actually very needed for me, purely because of USB-C 3.1 connector for my VR headset (or might I say his cable upgrade).

The M.2 drives are a bit confusing but I'll look into it.

The cooling is actually a good idea and I'll check that out.

The monitor I picked is from the PCS and I was looking specifically at dimentions and connection, figured HDMI will me more universal and the 21,5" is max for my monitor space.

The cost is approximately €2800, the budget is whatever guess about €3000.

The games I play (and will) are 95% VR, like Asgard's Wrath, No Man's Sky etc.

No familiarity needed. It just sits there and you use it, like Intel.

There are way, way less expensive mobos with that at the rear. e.g. AORUS Pro. if you want the front panel connector, then the AORUS Master is tbh a better board than the Hero. And it also has wifi, as well as a few other bonus features like a 3rd M.2 slot.

I don't think any of the VR options use the USB-C 3.1. I think Valve looked into it with the Index then binned the idea as it wasn't going to work so I think that may be a waste.

I would definitely be looking more towards the 3900X/3950X for this sort of work.
You would probably benefit from 32GB of RAM
The 2070 Super is the bare minimum I would recommend for heavy VR use, especially if you want to get into decent fidelity. I have the 2080 but I would have went for the 2080 Ti if I had the cash..... purely for VR. When you turn on up the scaling AAA titles chew up the GPU power.
I would drop the cooler master compound. The Corsair units come with good paste.

Okay screw it, if all the way then why not.

But honestly I'm more comfortable staying with Intel i9 for whatever reason, feel like it's gonna be too big of a change in the current processing order status of the build.

With the RAM you would be better to select the 2x16GB option.

That's going to be an absolute monster of a system though. Serious power. Since you have gone for the H100X with the silent fans, I would consider the H100i RGB Platinum instead. It's a silent fan cooler anyway and performs incredibly well. It's a good pairing for a 9900k workstation. Even forgetting the RGB, the cooling plate and fans on the radiator are second to none.

All that's left after that would be the 850w RMx PSU, it's a silent fan operation too during normal loads. It is passive, extremely efficient and known to be an excellent build. Not sure on the cost difference though.

In for a penny and all that.

Need to show it off and write a review when it arrives if you get a chance :D

Changed again.

Wouldn't the H115i be better though instead of H100i?

The H115 is better yes, but the H100 is more than adequate. You have changed it to the H115i PRO though, this is not as good as the H100i RGB Platinum (or the H115i RGB Platinum).

The naming is very confusing but the RGB Platinum are the latest iterations from Corsair that include a new Cool-It plate with a better thermal design. The fans are also ML fans (magnetic levitation) which makes them pretty much silent other than airflow.

I'm not convinced the KS is worth it, what was the price difference? It's the ultimate 4k machine with that in it but I'm just not convinced it's worth the money.

KS is €79 more, but tbh I also don't think it's gonna change that much. What do you think, at this point it's kinda whatever.

I would be happy with the K, but I'm happy to OC on my own. I think it's a bit of a gimmick to be honest, but it's possibly a bit of a moot point at this budget :ROFLMAO:

It's the best Intel you can get at this moment in time. If that's worth €79 along with some slim gains then go for it.
