I don't have a lot of place to put a desktop computer in my room and i would have to have a built in wireless in it as well

It all depends on whether you want the portability of a laptop i'd say and if its just space thats the issue you could look at the mini pc's

Raptor

i did look at the mini pc's but configuring them is a ******* like: this card is too small for this case
there's not enough space in this case
this case doesnt support this
and i'm like: WHY YOU LET ME CHOOSE THIS IF IT WONT WORK ON IT ROARRR
just a lot of frustration

Looks good. I'd drop the ram. Also, for the primary hdd, I would get a seagate barracuda. Caviar greens are great storage drives but not built for booting. You don't need the hdmi cable. The monitor will come with a dvi cable. Finally, have you considered home plugs? With the saved money, do you think you could upgrade the psu enough to add another gpu later?

Raptor

Enthusiast
Isn't HDMI > DVI ??? for visual properties
well my max goal was £800 :p
And what are homeplugs?
If by speakers/headphones
I have some speakers and turtle beach surround sound headphones

Raptor

Nvm i was doing some reading up and
HDMI = DVI
Does the screen come with a sound cable or should i just plug my
personal speakers straight into the desktop

The monitor should come supplied with an audio cable to use along with the DVI
connection if you want to use the monitor speakers.
Monitor speakers are not that great though so I would use your normal speakers.

Raptor

Well that settles it :]
thanks
so i downgraded my ram to 8GB 1333 instead of 8GB 1600
and removed the HDMI cable
and by the time i'm buying this i'll think about adding dual band wireless
instead of normal one

does anyone know if it's worth it ?

Since i'll be upstairs in the last room while the wireless will be downstairs in the first room

I would still recommend homeplugs, they basically make the connection wired, they send the connection through your house's main electricity. google them, you can find out. PCS sell some good ones, don't forget you need two though!

Raptor

Enthusiast
EXcuse me .... but what? i'm confused about the homeplugs O-o i may let you know-
I'm partly blond so o.o yeah...
as far as i understand they're socket devices that you plug in in your socket device and they provide wireless internet? if i am right
howwwwwwww does thaaaaaaaaaaaaat worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk o.o
plus i already have a wireless router downstairs so wouldn't they affect the speed in general ?

Music Guy123

Prolific Poster
Ok, they plug into a wall socket (they don't work well on extensions). They take an ethernet lead from your router to the back of the plug. They then send the internet into the wall socket so that it can be retrieved from any wall socket around the house as long as it is on the same fuse box. You then plug the other into another wall socket and an ethernet from the plug into your pc. I hope that makes a little more sense. There is no wireless involved. It basically sends the internet around the mains. The advantage is that it makes the connection more reliable and often faster.

Raptor

Enthusiast
oh
and let's say more sockets were connected that would understandably cut the internet speed?
let's say 2 computers are connected to two sockets
thus the speed would be 2 times slower
right?

Music Guy123

Prolific Poster
2 computers connected to two sockets, you mean you are using two PCs so in total 3 homeplugs, 1 for the router, 1 for each pc right? It will be like having the two PCs connected to the internet anyway, you have a set bandwidth, two PCs will have to divide it if that makes sense.

Raptor

and thing is
my room has only 1 socket...
:\ so i'd be quite screwed since i use extension lead from it
