Would a 5900X on a B550 board be causing problems? Can imagine it would throttle the chip, but would it crash?

3 hours on the phone to tech support, numerous emails and a botched repair job would suggest it isn't. I AM open to troubleshooting, but I always feel guilty about taking up peoples time

It should t do under a load like gaming, but without basic troubleshooting it’s impossible to say. We don’t even know what the bsod codes are.

I have no idea. I'm not that knowledgable. The build was one suggested by PCS themselves. I only changed the CPU from a 3900 to a 5900 once it was apparent that I would have to wait for the 3080 anyway

Spyder is good at this stuff, between the mods here, its practically your own IT tech team....
The OP previously said that the PC crashed when stress testing the GPU. Given that it is in a PCS case with a 5900x and a 3080, could this be a temperature issue? The CPU has an AIO cooler, but the the GPU does not have this assistance. Loading up the GPU, either in a game or under stress seems to crash the GPU. Another possibility would be some sort of driver problem.
We really need more information about the crashes. Does the PC shutdown, go to a blue screen or black screen? Is it just the game that crashes or the whole PC? Are there any error codes? You will probably be asked to supply copies of some dump files created when the PC crashes, depending upon what actually happens.

Don't Panic! Many people panic when they get a BOSD, partly this is because they happen unexpectedly and because they usually happen without warning, but also because many believe they mean you have a hardware problem. The good news is that in the majority of cases a BSOD is a software problem...
It crashes to restart. Just beeps and turns itself off. Its a blue screen.
Actually, it passed the GPU stress test and all other stress tests that tech support ran remotely. There must have been a misunderstanding with the woman who typed out the RMA.

The B550 should be more than capable of handling the 5900X. Any throttling would be more likely due to inadequate cooling rather than power supplied - but I doubt that’s the issue either.
Agree @SpyderTracks and @ubuysa are the gang to see as much as is possible here.

Just because one RMA hasn’t corrected an issue has no relevance to others. So long as you outline the issue correctly then it will be corrected.
Yeah, you are right. Maybe I am just too paranoid. But having paid this amount of money and not working properly it just stresses me out
