PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Desktop PC for Lightroom use

Hello all, Would be interested in your thoughts on this spec. I'm looking to replace my ageing Lightroom PC, with something that will keep up a bit better as I am using a 4k monitor & FHD monitor and it struggles. Generally ram and processor seem to make the most difference so I have focused on...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Desktop PC Spec

Hi There, I am just about to place an order after working through the spec on the forum, however just one question.... can I request that power cables are run for my GPU as I will be installing this when the system arrives? Additionally I want to install a couple of drives and have the same...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Desktop PC Spec

Thanks guys... think I am all set :) By pushing the budget and going for the 5800X, I hope to not even have to consider OCing it. I might reconsider a few years down the line, and I can always upgrade the cooler then. So in summary OCing is not a need at all. So this is where I am at: Two...

Seems that the best air-cooler option on PCS is the hyper 212... which should cover my use case, with a little headroom for overclocking.

Thanks for the great thoughts here, I appreciate your time :) Re the cooler, I had assumed that I would get an air cooler for the reasons that you mention... however I couldn't really see an option to select one. but I will have another look.

Thanks for the thoughts - it was recommended to keep the LR catalogue on a separate drive, however I am on the fence tbh - I don't want to have too many drives, config will likely be 1 or 2 M.2s with the 2TB SSD I already have, and an external back up drive. I don't want to end up throttling...

Hey Thanks - looking at the instructions, there are 2 SATA cables with the MB - so hoped they would be included?

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Desktop PC Spec

Hi All - found a bit of time to get back on this and tweaked the recommended spec, see below. Feedback welcome - especially on the CPU cooler and PSU (which might be OTT) One other question - are the extra PSU cables / SATA cables that come with these parts included in the shipping box? As I...

OK - so the overwhelming feedback is that AMD is the way to go!! Could someone help me to tweak the spec CPU/MB wise? FYI on-board wifi is only a nice to have - it seemed to be the same price either way for the ASUS one. My goal here is that the spec should do well for 5+ years, fingers crossed!

Though I should add that my current system is 8+ years old, and is well overdue a reinstall of windows. So either way I am expecting a massive bump in performance!

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Desktop PC Spec

Hey BIGFOOT - I read through some of the benchmarks and for batch exporting, the AMD CPUs crush intel... the big issue that I have in my current system is editing response time, which is a single threaded issue, hence picking intel so far.... So my question is, would a similar performance...

Thanks I_ARY - yes agree on BullGuard, I had left that on by mistake.... thanks for the advice on the PSU, I will push that up to 850W

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Desktop PC Spec

Hi - thanks for helping me out with this one, my first new PC in a looog while, and well overdue! While I would like to build my own, I just don't have the time these days... Use: Primarily Lightroom/photoshop, especially single threaded responsiveness (I don't do so much large volume...
